Paws 2 Your Heart Adam

adam

Adam is a 6 Year old, male Pit / Boxer mix. The director of the P2YH brought Adam to P2YH in August 2010 because he was in danger of being euthanized. Poor Adam has been in shelters, pretty much his whole life. He started out in Camden County Shelter, and then he was transfered to Room For One More in Sparta, NJ. Paws 2 Your Heart director, Christine, was volunteering at Room For One More, when she met Adam (and of course thought he was adorable).

When RFOM closed its doors in 2009, Adam and some of the other dogs were transferred to a sanctuary in Pennsylvania. Even though this was a sanctuary, they were euthanizing any animal that showed the smallest bit of aggression. Christine refused to stand by and see this beautiful dog euthanized when he was not an aggressive dog.

Christine went herself and ADOPTED Adam from the sanctuary, and he has been the best thing that could happen to her! Adam is P2YH's Mascot and attends almost every one of their events. He is on his way to becoming a certified Therapy Dog and also helps out with evaluations of new dogs that come into P2YH. That's right, he's our dog tester, to see how 'dog-friendly' our new additions are.

You can do just about anything to this dog, and he just sits there with not a care in the world! He's had babies crawl all over him, puppies nipping his face, and even one of the rescue dogs went after him for a treat and all he did was lay on the ground. He is truely a great dog, that is loving all the attention and finally being in a home and not a shelter.

Since August 2010, we have not seen any kind of aggression come from this boy! Its sad to think that, if we didn't step in, this guy would have been euthanized because he 'showed' signs of aggression. We are hoping that by having Adam as our Mascot (& eventually a therapy dog), it will put a positive experience in the media about Pitbulls!
